Student Blog Requirements
Here are the requirements for your student blogs:
Blog Title (5 points): The title of your blog must be as follows:
- First name, Last Name, Foods I Portfolio (Ex: Kristin Rickey Foods I Portfolio)
5 Typed Recipes (30 points): You must pick 5 recipes from the 10 that we made this semester. They must be typed in proper format: Title, Ingredients, Directions, Yield. You are awarded 6 points per recipe based on the following:
- Title
- Ingredients
- Directions
- Yield
- All ingredients and steps in directions accounted for
- No significant errors in recipe ingredients and directions that would inhibit the success of the recipe
5 Pictures (10 points): You must include 5 pictures of you from our cooking labs. EACH PICTURE must include the following:
- Picture of you with the final product
- Title of food you are making in the picture
Like or Dislike (10 points): You must list THE TITLE ONLY of all 10 recipes we made this semester and note whether you liked or disliked this recipe

Reflective Narrative (20 points): You must include a reflective narrative about your cooking experience in this class. The narrative must include:
- One paragraph of 5 to 7 complete sentences
- Proper grammar
- No "texting" in your narrative
- Adequately address your cooking experience in this class
5 New Skills Learned (15 points): You must list 5 new kitchen-related or cooking-related skills acquired this semester. EACH SKILL must have the following:
- Skill aquired
- Where you learned it (ex: in lab, in lecture, through video tutorials, etc)
- How you applied it (ex: during the Apple sauce lab I used the new skills we learned on how to properly core apples with a chef's knife)
Creativity (10 points): The overall appearance and professionalism of your blog
- I MUST be able to easily navigate through your blog to find the requirements listed above
